Programming Python by Mark Lutz
Python is a great language for writing scripts that can be easily ran on servers or for writing web and desktop apps. This book helps guide you through the syntax and coding style that make up a python app. It’s definitely one of the more flexible and easy to use modern languages.
Review: The Art of Community By Jono Bacon
One more day left in the O’Reilly blogger review program. This time I have been looking at The Art of Community by Jono Bacon.
Overall it’s a great book for a foundation in community building and growing social websites. It’s filled with lots of good advice and common sense. My main complaint is I wish there were more stories. You can’t always expect the author to be authoritative on every topic, as a reader you want more anecdotes and support for why you should take the authors advice. It may not be a good fit for seasoned community managers, but it’s a great volume for programmers, project managers and young community managers. It’s well worth a read.
Review of Native Video in HTML5
I just recently took this video for a spin and posted my review on the O’Reilly site, Native Video in HTML5
Overall I gave it 4 stars. Check out the review:
The Fabulous Bacone
A tasty treat found by This is Why You’re Fat. It’s cone made of bacon filled with scrambled eggs and gravy with a biscuit on top. Yum, More bacon to put pounds on you.
Check out his fresh, fly gear
I’m trying to find out where Gael Garcia get’s his clothes. He has exquisite taste! Please let me know who his tailor is.
El Invencible Chlorophyllo
It’s an ad for a new kind of gum, but it’s pretty cool looking. They have a flash website that goes through the back story a bit then has a simple live action game (like a luchador Dragon’s Lair). The site is slow, but worth the wait, http://www.chlorophyllo.fr/en/index.html
The BA-K-47
What happens when you mix greasy bacon with a Russian AK-47, the BA-K-47.
This powerful beast can kill a man with clogged arteries in 10 minutes. The whole story is here, http://www.thisisfreakingridiculous.com/tifr/2009/4/13/ba-k-47.html
The Bacon Song
The animated bacon man sings of the horrors of bacon. He just doesn’t know the beauty of the other white meat fried in it’s own grease.
Lightbright on Steroids
This came out in a Japan last year, but I just ran across it this week. It’s called the Luminodot by Bandai. It’s like an HD lightbright. It has twice the resolution and much brighter than the original. I wonder when kids in the US will get to play with this pixelated beast.
Have You Ever Wanted Your Bra to Sing?
This is the hot new thing for all you women who want to draw more attention to yourselves. A DIY project to make a musical bra. Your chest will sing!
Deuchebag of the Month Award
I was on facebook today and saw a get money now ad. Out of curiosity I clicked on it. It brought me to some get rich quick scheme which was pretty entertaining. The best part was seeing this pic of him with his Ferrari and then the text underneath it.
Muzak, born in the great depression, dies in the 2009 Recession
Muzak filed for bankruptcy a couple of days ago. The company started in 1934 and filled elevators with, well, elevator music for 75 years. Now they are drowning in debt and going bankrupt. I can’t say they will be missed but it is sad to see them go in some wierd twisted way.
Some Imaginative Lego Work
This Times article is great, some very clever ghetto representations of life in the city using Legos.

Thanks for link Bedirhan(solo)
No Teddy Rogers!!!
I was watching party girl earlier and was cracking up when this scene came on. What the hell did Teddy do to the bar owner? What ever it was, it couldn’t have been good!
The Bacon Explosion Erupts
This is quite possibly the most amazing bacon dish I have ever seen. This is the state of it before it cooked. You have to have to see the original post to get a sense of the bacon goodness. This post is a bit off topic, but this blog isn’t exactly focused 😉
Congratulations Barak Obama!
It’s time for change. Go’Bama!

Battery-less digital dice
This is pretty cool, you shake the machine and a random number comes out…like real dice. Best thing is it doesn’t use batteries!
The original post is here, it’s from the instructables site…it’s nerdy, but a dope site!
Happy New Year!
Welcome to 2008, here’s a little video to celebrate. Some lo-fi latin flavored stuff
Vinyl continues to die
Allthough the use and popularity of vinyl is holding, the underlying infrastructure for pressing and distributing it is dying. Vinyl pressing quality varies greatly these days and the know how of running vinyl production machines is diminishing, not to mention good mastering services for vinyl aren’t always easy to find. Bottom line, more vinyl distributors are filing for bankruptcy. This is a deadly blow to vinyl, especially dance music vinyl.
Old School Deuche
This is a wierd video I ran across on youtube…Talk about some old school Fraternity Hijinx. Southern charm mixed with some deuche = volital mix. I think the obnoxious comments on the youtube page are just as entertaining as the video!
Von Deuchebag
This is one of the funnier blogs I’ve come across in a while. It pretty much is exactly what the title describes, it features hot girls with cheesball dudes. If you want to know what it is like to live in New Jersey, check out this site. I can’t give Jersey too much shit though, because the Deuche epidemic is all over, it knows no boundaries.
What a grouch!
Oscar the grouch!, originally uploaded by jarroyo.
Someone came as oscar the grouch…what a rockstar! He was runner up to the big chief. Maybe the crowd was just being PC.
Halloween in Hanover
